Help
Everything about the game in one place. If you can't find an answer here, write to us at slovoboj@tvornica-programa.hr.
Building a word
At the bottom of the screen is a wheel with the letters of the level's main word. Touch the first letter and, without lifting your finger, slide over the others: the letters line up on the strip above the wheel. Each letter on the wheel can be used once. Changed your mind? Move your finger back to the previous letter and the last one is removed. Lift your finger and the word is submitted.
- A word from the board flies into its place on the board.
- A bonus word is a word made from the same letters that isn't on the board. It earns points but isn't needed to finish the level.
- Already found: you have that word already. You lose nothing.
- Not in this puzzle: the word isn't among the level's answers. It may well exist, but the game only accepts basic dictionary forms (no plurals, past tenses and the like). There is no penalty.
- Fewer than three letters don't count.
The level is solved once every word on the board is revealed.
Shuffle and hints
- Shuffle (the orange button, bottom right) puts the letters on the wheel in a new order. It's free, as often as you like.
- Hint (the light bulb button, bottom left) reveals one letter: touch an unsolved word on the board, then the button. The first hidden letter from the left is revealed, and the last letter of a word is always left to you. A hint costs 100 coins; the red number on the button shows how many you can afford. The revealed letter stays on a pale yellow tile, and the word earns fewer points.
Single player
Levels come in order, from five to eight letters on the wheel. Progress is kept separately for each puzzle language.
Points
| What | Points |
|---|---|
| A word from the board | 10 per letter; 75 % if you used a hint on it |
| A streak | +5 for the second word in a row, +10 for the third, +15 for the fourth and +20 for every one after that; a word that isn't in the puzzle breaks the streak |
| A bonus word | 3 per letter |
| Speed | 2 points for every second under the target time, up to 200 |
| A clean level | +50 with no hint and at most one word that isn't in the puzzle |
The target time is 4 seconds per letter of all the words on the board, and at least 45 seconds. Being slower costs nothing.
Stars
- 1 star: the level is solved.
- 2 stars: at most one hint and a time of up to 1.5 times the target.
- 3 stars: no hints and within the target time.
For every level the game keeps your best score, your best time and the most stars.
Coins for a level
The first time you solve a level you get 5 coins, plus 1 for each bonus word (up to 5). The first time you get three stars on a level you get another 5. Solving the same level again earns no new coins.
Without the internet
Once you have entered a nickname, single player works offline too, but then there are no hints or ads, and the level's coins aren't saved. The game screen says so.
Multiplayer
Rooms
The "Multiplayer" screen lists the open rooms in your puzzle language. Touch a public room to join it. A private room (padlock) needs the four-digit PIN the host gives you. Or touch "Create a room": the game makes up the room's name (the dice button gives a new one), and you choose the number of players (2 to 5), the number of rounds (1 to 5) and whether the room is private.
You can chat in the room. Once everybody has marked "Ready", the host starts the game. The host can also start earlier, after a confirmation, if there are at least two players in the room.
Matches and rounds
A match has one to five rounds. In each round everybody gets the same board, but each player solves their own: a word someone else finds isn't revealed on your board. A round lasts up to two minutes. Once someone solves the whole board, the others have 10 more seconds. There is a five-second countdown between rounds.
Points in a round
| What | Points |
|---|---|
| A word from the board | 10 per letter; 70 % if you used a hint on it |
| First in the room to find that word | +5 per letter (not with a hint) |
| Bonus words | 2 per letter, up to 30 per round |
| The whole board | +50 |
A word that isn't in the puzzle costs no points, but you can submit the next word only after three quarters of a second. The points of all rounds add up. On equal points, the player who won more rounds is ahead.
League Points (LP) and the leaderboard
At the end of a match your place earns League Points: 1st place 100 LP, 2nd 70, 3rd 50, 4th 35 and 5th 25. There is a separate leaderboard for each puzzle language.
Giving up and losing the connection
Leaving the room during a match means giving up: you lose 100 LP and get no place, and the others play on. If only one player is left in the match, the match ends and that player is first. If your connection drops, you have 60 seconds to come back.
Coins in a match
The winner of a round gets one coin for each opponent in that round. A hint costs 100 coins in a match too.
Coins
- You start with 200 coins.
- You earn them by solving levels, winning rounds and, if you like, watching a short ad: the coin button in the menu or in single player gives 50 coins for an ad watched to the end.
- You spend them on hints: 100 coins for one letter.
- They are shared by all languages and both game modes, and they are kept on the server with your profile.
- They can't be bought, sold or exchanged for money.
Languages
In "Settings → Display" you choose two languages: the interface language (menus and messages) and the puzzle language (the words you build). The menus can be in English while you build German words. Levels, records, statistics and League Points are kept separately for each puzzle language; your nickname, avatar and coins are shared.
Nickname and avatar
You enter a nickname (2 to 16 characters) the first time you play and pick a picture with it: a person, an animal or just the first letter of the nickname. Other players see it in rooms and on the leaderboard. It doesn't have to be unique. You can change it with the pencil on "Statistics" or on the leaderboard. The game doesn't accept a nickname with a swear word or an insult.
Common questions
Why does the first start need the internet?
Your nickname and coins are kept on the server, so the profile has to be registered once. After that, single player works offline too.
Why wasn't my word accepted?
The game accepts basic dictionary forms of words an average speaker knows, without names, abbreviations and slang. If you think a word is missing or doesn't belong in the game, let us know.
Can I move my profile to another phone?
No. A profile has no password or sign-in, so it can't be opened on another device. Single-player progress, records and statistics are stored only on the phone.
How do I turn off the music, sounds or vibration?
In "Settings": menu music, music while playing, game sounds, room notifications and vibration each have their own switch.
How do I change my consent for ads?
"Settings → Privacy settings" opens Google's consent form again (in the EU and the EEA). There is more in the privacy policy.
How do I report an offensive message or nickname?
Tap the chat message or the player (in a room, on the match results or on the leaderboard), choose "Report", a reason and "Send report". The server attaches the messages from the room itself. If you no longer have the app, send us an e-mail with the name of the room, the nickname and roughly when it happened. There is more in the terms of use.
How do I block a player?
In the same place, "Block": you then don't see each other's messages and can't be in the same room. The list of blocked players and "Unblock" are in "Settings → Blocked players".
